Who We Are

Boutique by design and one of a handful of remaining independent search marketing agencies in Canada, Search Tactix is helmed by Shane Wagg and Doug Gebhardt. With thirty years search marketing experience – yes, thirty – Shane is not only the lead practitioner of Search Tactix, but has also taught digital narratives at the college level and been a search marketing conference speaker throughout North America since 2002. An agnostic platform savant with almost two decades of direct search marketing experience, Doug brings the same passion to people as he does to his work ethic with the gift of patience for both.

Shane Wagg - Founder & CEO

Having crafted and created his first search engine optimization strategy in 1996 – back when Google was little more than a gleam in Silicon Valley's eye and dinosaurs ruled the earth reading their newspapers – Shane is a Canadian digital marketing entrepreneur and pioneer with a passion for words, numbers and all things search and data related. From that first campaign, Shane has gone on to create thousands of campaigns over the past three decades and been involved in every search and digital marketing strategy Search Tactix has implemented.

During his spare time – lol – Shane enjoys writing (as yet unpublished) novels, award-winning short stories, cooking for friends and singing badly on long road trips with his dog, Tucker.

Doug Gebhardt - Chief Relationships Officer

The patron saint of patient smiles, Doug joined Search Tactix in 2009 and now brings almost twenty years of search and digital marketing experience to every campaign he creates. Doug is a quadruple threat, bringing search acumen, unsurpassed congeniality, technical platform prowess, and college teaching experience in accounting – making the most of every digital and search marketing budget dollar spent.

In his spare time, Doug enjoys traveling to Cuba and spending time at home relaxing with his cat, Leonardo Kai Enrique Lorne Bencomo Gebhardt.

His passion for technology has led Doug to teach a class of senior citizens to disassemble and reassemble their computers to better understand how they actually work. (The computers, not the senior citizens.)
